Author's Note:This is a poem I wrote for Book Club. We were trying to mimic Robert Frost's poem Nothing Gold Can Stay. I put his poem below mine so you could see how my poem is parallel to his. The main theme of my poem is how temptation is hard to avoid, but it doesn't last. The Fire in this symbolizes the temptation.
Fire’s sweet touch, a scar
His flame: something bizarre
His blazing heat’s a fear
You can’t help but go near
Then flames turn to ashes
Healing our deep gashes
So dark then turns to day
His flame: something bizarre
His blazing heat’s a fear
You can’t help but go near
Then flames turn to ashes
Healing our deep gashes
So dark then turns to day
Fire can’t always stay

Robert Frost's Nothing Gold Can Stay
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf's a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.
I can really tell that you were trying to mimic this poem, and yet you didn't copy it exactly, which I really liked. Your poem is really descriptive, and it makes you somewhat sad when the fire dies. It was a really fun to read!
